INTRODUCTION TO LOGIC

Christopher Holmes

ACADEMICS | WEEK THREE

Description

Want to become better at critical thinking? Want to become better at writing and analyzing arguments? Then this is the class for you. In this class you will be introduced to logic, the formal discipline of studying the principles of reasoning that are used in all types of argumentation (history, literature, mathematics, etc.). Much attention will be given to basic formal logic (the logic primarily used in mathematical reasoning) and informal logic (the logic primarily used in scientific reasoning). Time will also be given to the study of common logical fallacies that are made in everyday life, as well as to the construction of good argumentative essays.
